Descripción | The department of European Languages and Cultures, part of School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, seeks to appoint a Spanish Teaching Fellow. |
Contrato | This is a full-time (35 hours per week), open-ended post available from September 2020. For the months of July and August, working hours will be zero. Annual leave will normally be taken during the months you are scheduled to work. Salary is calculated on an annualised basis and paid in 12 equal monthly instalments. |
Salario | £33,797 to £40,322 per annum, pro rata (as per averaged salary calculations). |
Requisitos | Essential • degree in a relevant area and evidence of fluency or near-fluency in Spanish, and fluent in English • experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language • a commitment to high quality teaching and learning • experience and demonstrable success in delivering effective university teaching • a proven record of ability to manage time and to work to strict deadlines • excellent interpersonal skills • excellent oral and written communication skills • basic IT skills • ability to work as part of a team and to communicate well with students Desirable • qualification in teaching Spanish as a foreign language • Administrative experience of course organisation • Knowledge of, fluency or near-fluency of Catalan and/or Basque |
Responsabilidades | The postholder will be educated to graduate level in Spanish and have a very sound command of both spoken and written English, as well as experience in teaching Spanish Language. The successful applicant will be required to teach within the framework of the School’s courses in Spanish, which will also include course organisation. Main Responsibilities and percentage of workload – to contribute to the planning, delivery and examination of courses in Spanish language and content courses as appropriate, at all undergraduate levels from ab initio to Honours to support learners and supervise class activities in specific areas of activity according to established procedures and guidelines (45%) – to monitor student progress and provide formative and summative feedback (15%) – to mark assessments and exams (15%) – to take on appropriate administrative roles, including Course Administration (25%) |
