Salario | TT$239,544 – TT$333,456 al año Beneficios: – Special allowance of 6% of basic salary; – Transportation Allowance of TT$3,250 per month; – Up to five economy class passages plus baggage allowance of US$3,000.00 (TT$ equivalent) on appointment and normal termination; – Unfurnished accommodation at 10% or furnished at 121⁄2% of basic salary, or housing allowance of 20% of basic salary to staff making own housing arrangements; – UWI contribution of equivalent of 10% of basic salary to Superannuation Scheme; – Annual Study and Travel Grant (available after first year of service); TT$20,717.00 per annum – Institutional Visit Allowance – TT$ 7,200.00 per annum – Book Grant – TT$6,000 per annum – Contributory Health Insurance – 50% – Group Life Insurance Scheme |
Requisitos | The successful candidate must possess a Doctorate in Spanish, or Translation Studies or a closely related area (Spanish must be among the chosen language pair/s). Candidates must also have: – Knowledge of recent theories and methodologies in Translation Studies – Native or near-native competency in spoken and written Spanish (C2) – A solid publication profile Candidates with the following would have an advantage: – At least three years teaching experience at the tertiary level – Technological competencies (Translation software) – Specialization in one or more of the following: – Literary translation and reception – The history of translation – Corpus-based translation studies – Gender issues in translation Experience in Interpreting would be an asset. |

Candidates must also: – Have capacity to work collaboratively toward common goals and meet very specific deadlines – Have collegial spirit and respect for others – Be open to new ideas and ways of working – Be able to work in a multidisciplinary environment – Have technological competencies particular to a web-enabled learning environment Special responsibilities: – Undergraduate and postgraduate-level teaching and supervision – Engaging in pedagogical reseach and scholarly activity, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University – Contributing to enhancement of the student experience and employability (Academic advising) – Engaging in scholarly activities including research and publications – Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels – Participating in the design and development of courses, teaching materials and or programmes in Translation – Collaborating with colleagues in teaching, administration, cultural and extra-curricular events organized by the Spanish section, the Department, the Faculty and the Campus – Supervising undergraduate research projects as well as postgraduate research work NOTE: Members of staff may be called upon to deliver classes in either or both of these modes – blended as well as face‐to‐face teaching. |
